About Daniel

Who am I?

Daniel is a music teacher and performer based in Indiana, Pennsylvania. He offers private lessons on violin, viola, and piano to students of all ages and ability levels with both the Greater Johnstown School of Music and the IUP String Project. He is a classically trained musician but also has experience in folk, bluegrass, and klezmer styles. Daniel performs in the Resolving Fifths Quintet, a professional string ensemble playing a variety of genres from Mozart to Sinatra for various events. More information can be found here: The Resolving Fifths – A String Quintet in the Indiana Area, as well as on Facebook and Instagram.

Daniel has previously performed with the Williamsport Symphony Youth Orchestra, the Lycoming College Community Orchestra and Young Artists Baroque Orchestra, as well as the Bloomsburg Community Orchestra. In these ensembles, he was able to gain proficiency in a great variety of repertoire, all the way from symphonies and operas to musicals and jazz. He currently plays principal 2nd violin in the IUP Symphony Orchestra and also collaborates as a violinist with the Indiana rock band “Somebody to Love.” Daniel also has a considerable background in Catholic and Orthodox liturgical music.

Furthermore, Daniel composes music for various orchestral, chamber, and choral ensembles in various genres, including his own idiomatic style, which might be described as a fusion of high Austrian classical form and Slavic folk flavors. He also plays piano and sings bass, baritone, and low tenor. He is well versed in chant, choral singing, and cantoring in the Ruthenian Greek-Catholic Church. He was recently given the honor of performing in a choir alongside Andrea Bocelli at his spring 2024 concert in Pittsburgh. Daniel holds a BA in Philosophy and Theology from Holy Apostles College summa cum laude and is currently pursuing a BSed. in Music Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
